Visiting the Acropolis This Winter? The Cheap Ticket Is Gone
For years, winter was the smart time to see the Parthenon for less. That trick no longer works.

For years, the Acropolis had a well-known winter secret: from 1 November to 31 March, admission dropped to half price. That discount no longer exists. Since 1 April 2025, a standard ticket costs €30 all year round — up from €20 in summer and €10 in winter before the change — under a new five-tier pricing system for Greece's archaeological sites announced by Culture Minister Lina Mendoni.
Entry is also timed. Since September 2023, visitors must choose a one-hour slot when they buy, and the site is capped at 20,000 people a day. The system was introduced after the Acropolis was regularly receiving up to 23,000 visitors a day, about half of them before noon. Official tickets are sold through the Ministry of Culture's hhticket.gr platform.
Some things haven't changed: visitors from the EU under 25 still enter free, but need to book a zero-value ticket online and bring ID. And winter still has real advantages — smaller crowds, easier slots and cooler climbs — even if a cheaper ticket is no longer one of them.
TravelHub's own Parthenon walk, filmed in 2024, follows the route from the entrance up the slope to the Propylaea — a good preview of what you're paying €30 to see.
